BRONZE LECTURE PROGRAMME

The LGC Bronze Lecture Programme is no longer hosted on this site. Try  http://www.instructor.andrewroch.co.uk/weather.htm and click 'Bronze Lecture Programme' at the bottom.

See my Bronze Lecture presentations here.

Meanwhile if you want to know about any particular topic, ask an instructor.  They usually like to show off their knowledge!  Lectures are often offered on bad weather days at the weekend - don't be frightened to ask.

THE LECTURES are offered as stimulus and support for those wishing to take the Bronze multi-choice exam papers. They are probably not sufficient in themselves to get a pass. You will need to do some study by yourself. To this end the following books are recommended. The LGC Office used to stock them (?), or the BGA online shop, Amazon or borrow from a friend. You may get more benefit from the lectures if you are able to do some prior reading and you will also then know what questions you want to ask.

Bronze and Beyond - John McCullagh
The Glider Pilot's Manual - Ken Stewart
The Soaring Pilot's Manual - Ken Stewart

The 'syllabus' for the Bronze Exams is on the BGA website at http://www.gliding.co.uk/forms/bronzestudyguide.pdf

The sort of questions you might be asked in the multi-choice papers can be found at http://www.esgc.co.uk/bronze.htm or http://www.bfgc.co.uk/Confuser/confuser.aspx - although the BGA have now issued new 'unknown' questions. However going through the questions on these gliding club websites will provide EXCELLENT preparation.
